Self Erecting Tower Crane on a Care Home Project

Earlier this month we dismantled a Self Erecting Tower Crane on a Care Home Project in Andover following the completion of a 30-week hire.

The project, due to be fully completed in November 2016, involved the construction of a 66-bed care home including a dining area, kitchen, meeting rooms, manager’s office, staff room and refreshments. Additionally there was associated landscaping and parking. The main building is a three-storey structure in an L-Shape.

The Mantis 35.10 Self Erecting Tower Crane (SETC) that we erected on site had a jib length of 32m and a height under hook of 21.7m. It provided a maximum lift of 1,240kg at 32m. With the scaffolding on the project removed we were able to use a standard telehandler to remove the Pedestrian Operated Tower Crane from the site and return it to our Northamptonshire-based depot to prepare it for the next hire project.

Self Erecting Tower Crane on a Care Home Project Benefits

  1. Using an SETC on a a Care Home Project limits the noise pollution in the surrounding area which is important as these care homes are normally located close to residential areas.
  2. Site safety is significantly enhanced as there are less machinery movements, like forklifts, when an SETC is used on a project. There is also less chance of damage to scaffolding and other site machinery.
  3. Efficiency on your site is increased as the load is delivered directly to the point of work with minimal effort.
  4. An SETC can be placed on sites where space is somewhat restricted so, even though you might feel that a crane is not a viable material handling solution for your site, in most cases we can place a Pedestrian Operated Tower Crane on site if there is an adequate base available.
