Potain T85 Self Erecting Tower Crane in Swansea

Earlier this week our Crane Service Team installed a Potain T85 Self Erecting Tower Crane in Swansea on a steel frame construction project.

The project involves the construction of 57 apartments and three retail units at The Urban Quarter in Swansea. This is a residential-led mixed-use regeneration project – a combination of city centre apartments and work offices designed for the creative industries. It features a mix of retail, food and commercial space linked by a series of courtyard spaces.

The project began in January 2016 and is scheduled for completion at the beginning of 2018.

Potain T85 Self Erecting Tower Crane in Swansea Details

The Potain T85 is the largest Self Erecting Tower Crane on the Mantis Cranes fleet. The model that we erected on the steel frame construction project in Swansea will be in place for at least three months.

This Pedestrian Operated Tower Crane will provide our client with a height under hook of 35m at the end of a 45m jib. The maximum lift it can provide at the end of the jib is 1,250kg.

Our Crane Service team were on site early and installed the crane using a telehandler, provided by the client, to place it on a compacted hard core base with spreader mats. Following an onsite induction, for the designated crane operator, the client was ready to start utilising the crane on the steel frame construction project.
