What truly distinguishes this award-winning project is the impressive level of precision engineering employed throughout the fabrication process. Each tower section is fabricated entirely in-house, using hot-rolled steel sourced from Irish suppliers, precision-cast bolt lugs, and submerged arc welded (SAW) corner posts. This commitment to local sourcing not only supports the Irish steel industry but also ensures complete control over material quality.
All welding processes are carried out in accordance with UNE-EN ISO 15609-1 standards and are supported by certified Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQRs) and validated welding procedures. This rigorous adherence to international standards demonstrates a commitment to excellence and quality assurance at every stage of production.
Innovation Through Custom Engineering
At the heart of this award-winning achievement lies an effective fabrication solution: a custom-designed jig measuring approximately 15 meters in length, specifically engineered to facilitate the precision fabrication of tower crane sections. This sophisticated manufacturing tool enables the continuous production of five different tower section variants, accommodating sections ranging from 3 to 12 meters in length and weighing between 4.5 and 10 tonnes.
The true measure of this jig’s innovation is its precision capability. It maintains dimensional accuracy within an impressive ±0.5 mm tolerance over the full 12-meter span, meeting the stringent geometric tolerances specified by Saez Tower Cranes.
